Two-year-olds at the double
IT was a successful evening for the team with Al Karrar and Rogue Spirit securing wins at Windsor and Wolverhampton respectively.
Al Karrar, a son of Dark Angel, got his career off to the perfect start when winning a newcomers maiden over 6f under Luke Morris. Carrying the colours of Raed El Yousef, he showed a smart turn of foot to win in style by three lenghts.
A short while later Rogue Spirit landed the odds in the 5f novice at Wolverhampton for the Rogues Gallery Syndicate.
Also a son of Yeomanstown Stud resident Dark Angel, he was sent off a very short 2/11 shot having finished second in a Conditions event at Beverley last time out. The form of that had been franked by the winner and the third at Royal Ascot last week and Rogue Spirit was able to defy the penalty to win easily under Jack Mitchell.
Tom said: "It has been a fustrating time for the team over the last few weeks with plenty hitting the crossbar so to win with these two exciting juveniles is great for everyone.
"Al Karrar has his quirks but is a horse with a lovely Shadwell pedigree who has always shown promise at home. I was impressed how he did that on debut in a race with plenty of fancied horses.
"Rogue Spirit is a lovely horse who has plenty of ability and the form in the book. That was a nice confidence boost for him and he'll now head to the Super Sprint at Newbury."
