Twenty Up as Broughtons Gold lands Windsor prize
BROUGHTONS Gold provided the team with our twentieth winner of the year when taking the six-furlong handicap at Windsor on Monday evening.
Running in the colours of Mr Michael Broughton, this progressive sprinter has now won three of his five starts including his penultimate outing at Newbury.
Sent off the well-backed 6/4 favourite, Broughtons Gold always had a good position under Hayley Turner and picked up strongly when asked to get on top late in the day, winning by half a length.
Tom said: "We have always thought plenty of this horse. He won well at Newbury before a good effort at Haydock when he raced away from the main action. He needs to get his toe-in a bit which is why we took him out at Newmarket on Saturday and waited for this.
"Hayley has given him a lovely ride and hopefully there is more to come from his as he continues to fill his frame."
This afternoon we have Celsius bidding for back-to-back wins at Glorious Goodwood when his lines up in the 5f Qatar Handicap.
Owned by Jon Collins, Chris Fahy and Steve Piper, he is already a winner at Haydock this season and was unlucky not to double up at Newmarket last time out.
Tom said: "Celsius has been a real star for us and he heads to Goodwood in great form. There is plenty of pace up front which should suit and hopefully the gaps come when he needs them. He'll need a bit of luck but hopefully he can run a big race."
