Thomas Cochrane wins at Kempton
The son of War Command finished third on his recent debut at Wolverhampton and stepped up on that effort to win under Jack Mitchell.
He had stall 12 to overcome but Jack soon managed to adopt a handy position on the heels of the leader Beautiful Crown. He tracked that rival the whole way around, still showing signs of greenness and racing slightly in snatches.
His task was made easier when the favourite Brown Delivers was taken wide on the final bend and Thomas Cochrane stayed on strongly to wear down the pacesetter inside the closing stages to win by a head.
Tom said: "I am really thrilled for his owners - especially Gill Khosla who bred him and kept a leg. He was a slow learner and they have been patient but he has done that nicely today and can hopefully develop into a nice staying handicapper for them to enjoy on the turf."
Thomas Cochrane is owned by the Thomas Cochrane Partnership - Richard and Stuart Marchant, Phill Green, Gay Jarvis, Silla Harrington and Gill Khosla. Well done all!
