Suguali wins on debut
Owned by the Rogues Gallery Syndicate, this son of first-season-sire The Gurkha overcame greeness to score under Dane O'Neill.
He was slowly away from the stalls but soon travelled strongly at the rear of the field. The pacesetters had gone fast up front and Dane crept into it with Sugauli always moving smootly.
He really began to motor as they approached the closing stages and he got on top close to the line to win by half a length.
Tom said: "He is a colt we have always like and his work at home had been promising. That said, he has also been a slow learner and I was concerned that he might have been too green to do himself justice today.
"He was slow out of the stalls but luckily he found is stride quickly and has a high cruising speed. On pedigree he shouldn't be winning over seven furlongs at this time of the season so that he has is massively exciting for the future."
