Storm Shelter lands Chelmsford prize

STORM Shelter gained a first career win when taking a mile nursery on Thursday evening.

The well-named son of Gale Force Ten was a close second over course and distance 12 days ago but made no mistake this time, winning decisively under Jack Mitchell.

He was a little slow out of the gates but soon had a good position in the midfield. He had to switch around runners rounding the final bend but picked up well once in the clear.

It looked as thought Ghost Queen may have slipped the field in front but Storm Shelter had that rival in his sights and ran her down inside the final furlong, winning by two and a quarter lengths.

Tom said: "I am thrilled for his owners; Ian Barratt, Adam Signy and Ben Spiers - this horse was a slow learner but has really got his act together recently and did that nicely."
