Solid start for Gypsy and news of upcoming runners
She was just a short-head away from fifth and stayed on strongly in the closing stages, offering plenty of promise for the season ahead. Having been placed twice in Listed company at two our main aim with her is to win one and it may be that she will be off on her travels at some point soon.
Our only other turf runner this week was Chasemore Farm's Plissken who finished fifth on debut in the mile fillies' maiden at Newmarket. This daughter of Bated Breath is blind in her right eye so everything takes a little longer for her to grasp but it was a promising start and she will have learnt plenty.
Looking ahead we have our first two-year-old runner of the season in Craigburn who tackles a 5f auction maiden at Chelmsford on Thursday. Despite being bred to need considerably further, he has been showing some speed in his homework and can hopefully make a pleasing introduction.
Pheiddippides, a winner at Lingfield last month, lines up in a 10f handicap also at Chelmsford. He has been training well and if he handles the step up in trip, he will run well
