Soldierpoy goes in search of big pay day at Newbury

SOLDIERPOY will line up in tomorrow's £150,000 Weatherbys Super Sprint at Newbury.

The son of Sepoy was a winner at Thirsk last time out having been second on debut in a strong novice at Windsor.

This race has been his target for some time and we hope he can run with credit in a race of this nature.

Tom said: "We always try and buy a yearling each year to target these sales races - they provide an opportunity to race for big money with an inexpensive horse.

"We were second in this race with Declarationoflove three years ago and this horse is similar. He is a strong traveller who can hopefully hit the line strongly.

"He won nicely at Thirsk but we wouldn't have done much with him since then except tick him over. He seems in good form and we are optimistic of a good performance."

Soldierpoy is owned by a group of family and friends who make up the Shimplingthorne Syndicate and will be ridden by Jason Watson.
