Mr Beaufort wins and great effort from Rogue Bear
IT was a memorable weekend for the team with Mr Beaufort getting off the mark at Wolverhampton and Rogue Bear running a cracker in the Lincoln to finish third.
Mr Beaufort (The Mr Beaufort Syndicate) was well-fancied to get off the mark in the 5f Median Auction and he duly obliged under Dougie Costello to win by a short head. It was harder work than we had hoped but he didn't look entirely at home on the sharp turning track and will strip fitter for this run.
Rogue Bear finished strongly to take third in the £100,000 Lincoln Handicap for owners the Rogues Gallery. He was drawn away from the action and put up a terrific display to finish as close as he did.
Tom said: "We found this race from Mr Beaufort some time ago and it's great to get a win next to his name. I think he's better suited to soft turf on a straight track so we'll look for these conditions in the future. He's owned by a bunch of good friends so I am delighted he's won for them.
"Rogue Bear ran a stormer - he's a progressive horse who can hopefully win a nice race for the Rogues this season."
There was also a good run from Castleberg Rock who finished third on debut in the 7f Novice at Doncaster on Sunday.
