Last runner of 2021 is a winner thanks to Raajil

WE ended the year on a high when  Raajil made a winning start for the team in the seven-furlong novice event at Southwell on Wednesday evening.

The son of Awtaad was purchased out of the Shadwell draft at the Tattersalls HIT sale having finished third on his only start as a two-year-old back in August 2020.

His work at home had been solid and he made light work of a competitive field to win by nearly two lengths under Jack Mitchell.

Tom said: "It's great to end the year with a winner - I am especially pleased for his owner Michael Bringloe who has had some rotten luck recently. He is a lovely big horse, I think a mile of turf will be his optimun but we'll probably keep him going a bit on the all-weather as he hasn't had much racing."
