Hunni on target at Newmarket and news on upcoming runners
HUNNI returned to the winners' circle with a deserved success in the seven-furlong fillies' handicap at Newmarket on Friday afternoon.
Owned by the Hunni Partnership, the daughter of Captin Gerrard hadn't won for some time but she has been running well in defeat, notably at Newmarket where she has a great record.
She travelled well under Josie Gordon, racing towards the nearside of the group. As they entered the 'Dip' Josie asked her for maximun effort and Hunni ran on well to collar long time leader Al Dawodiya by a neck.
Tom said: "Hunni was one of the first horses we had into the yard when we started and to get her back in the winners' enclosure is very rewarding. She's a lovely mare and has done it well today. Josie rides her well and she loves Newmarket. We'll be looking for a similar race back here over the next few weeks."
Looking ahead, today we have Holy Kingdom running for the Rogues Syndicate in the 1m6f handicap at Newmarket. The son of Australia won readily over two furlongs shorter at the Guineas Meeting and has trained well since.
Tom added: "Holy Kingdom did it well last time out and a 6lb rise was probably fair. He had good form over this trip last season and hopefully he can continue the upward curve."
After today we have a quiet few days coming up with our next runner likely to be debutant Fairy Dust at Windsor on Wednesday. Recent winner Celsius has a couple of options at Haydock whilst Craigburn could line up at Lingfield later in the week.
