Hunni is a star as she scoops HQ prize
Owned by a great group of friends and friends of friends who make up the Hunni Partnership, the daughter of Captain Gerrard was sent off the outsider of the field but she has been progressive in maidens and the form of her latest second at Windsor has been working out well.
She carried bottom-weight with just 8st 1lb but was given a lovely ride by Kieran O'Neill who settled her on the heels of the leader, Faithful Promise. She was the first to come under pressure with three furlongs to run but responded willingly to Kieran's urgings and was soon challenging for the lead.
As they hit the rising ground, she got the better of the game pacesetter Faithful Leader and went on to win going away by half a length.
Tom said: "To have a winner on a Saturday at our local track is very special. Hunni has always shown promise at home and has improved with every start to date.
"She is owned by a lovely group of people who have had an amazing day. She has had a hard enough race today on soft ground so we shall give her plenty of time to get over this. Her main target for the autumn is the Redcar Two-year-old Trophy in which she has just 8st to carry."
