Gypsy Spirit wins on debut

A first winner for her sire Gregorian, Gypsy Spirit certainly lived up to her name, showing plenty of 'spirit' in the preliminaries but thankfully a more channeled approach in the race itself.

She was slowly away under Josephine Gordon but soon made up the ground and was in amongst runners. She came wide of the field making good progress to win a shade cosily by a neck.

She was purchased for just 6,000gns at Tattersalls last October and with her win prizemoney in addition to a Plus 10 bonus, she has already paid for herself twiceover.

Tom said: "I am thrilled - she is our first debutant winner and our first two-year-old runner of the year. It hopefully bodes well for the rest of the bunch. She was quite green both before and in the race so I am hopeful that there in improvement to come.

"She is owned by a great group of owners who should have plenty of fun with her this summer."
