Gypsy Spirit set for Ayr Group 3
GYPSY Spirit will tackle the Group 3 Firth Of Clyde Stakes at Ayr on Saturday.
The daughter of Gregorian has been a star for her connections this season, winning a plus 10 bonus at Windsor before a string of decent efforts in good company. When last seen she was a close second in Listed company at Ripon.
The form of her Ripon run has turned out exceptionally well with the winner Sporting Chance scoring in Group 3 company in France whilst the sixth Kessaar won the Sirenia Stakes at Kempton and the fifth Barbill, the Tattersalls Ireland Auction Stakes at The Curragh last weekend.
This has been Gypsy's target since that success and she has trained nicely in the interim.
Tom said: "It is exciting to be sending Gypsy Spirit to Ayr. She goes there in good form and the ground and track should suit well. Another stride at Ripon and she would have got there - it was a very good run in a race which has worked out very well. As to be expected in this grade, it is a very competive race but we are optimistic of a good run."
Jack Mitchell rides.
We also look set to saddle Characteristic at Chelmsford in a 7f novice event. Owned by Jon Collins, Patrick Moorhead and Chris Fahy, this son of Casamento has shaped well at home and can hopefully show promise on debut.
The horses have been in good form in recent days with Balgair and Rajman going down by the smallest of margins whilst Hunni and Dawn Affair also ran creditable races to be third.
