Gypsy Spirit heads to Tattersalls Breeding Stock Sales
Catalogued as lot 1886 she has been a real flag-bearer for the team, winning on debut as a two-year-old before going on to finish placed in five Listed events and the £150,000 Tattersalls Auction Stakes. She has earned over £80,000 in prizemoney and taken her enthusiastic syndicate all over Europe.
She cost just 6,000gns as a yearling from Terry and Margaret Holdcroft's Bearstone Stud - since her purchase her close relative Queen Jojo has struck in Listed company and there have been some notable updates in the sales ring too with her half-sister by Night of Thunder realising 75,000gns just last week.
Tom said: "Gypsy has been by far the toughest, soundest filly I have had anything to do with. She thrives on racing and has been a pleasure to train. She has been unlucky not to win a Listed race - she was beaten on the nod in the Ripon two-year-old Trophy and narrowly again in Saint-Cloud and in Dusseldorf - the latter on unsuitably heavy ground.
"It is always sad to see your best horses go but she has been a real star and can hopefully return a good price for her owners."
