Deserved win for Go Fox
The son of Foxwedge has hit the crossbar on numerous occasions and thoroughly deserved this breakthrough success.
He was given a good ride by Jack Mitchell who settled his mount in third behind the runaway pacesetters Contingency Fee and Cedar. He relaxed into a good rhythm and on turning for home went in pursuit of the leaders.
Jack opted to stick on the far rail whilst the rest of the field challenged down the centre of the track. The rail helped Go Fox stay straight and he stuck gamely to his task, taking up the running at the furlong pole before going on to win by a length and three quarters.
Tom said: "I am thrilled for the horse and for his very patient owners Richard and Stuart Marchant, Charles Holmes and my mother in law Gay. He has been unlucky on a couple of occasions and really deserved that. Jack has judged the race perfectly and Go Fox was a willing partner."
The team had three other runners on the card; Tulloona, Craigburn and Monsieur Lambrays - all who filled the frame.
