Birkett excels on Dutch Uncle
He settled the son of Dutch Art towards the rear of the field in a race which was run at a frenetic pace.
Dutch Uncle travelled strongly and Ross begun to make ground down the back straight.
The odds on favourite Ice Pyramid went for home rounding the final bend but Dutch Uncle was in his rivals's slipstream and when asked picked up well to take the lead well inside the final furlong.
He passed the post half a length to the good.
Tom said: "That was a peach of a ride - Dutch Uncle has a great record at Lingfield especially when they go a good gallop. This horse is a real old star - he is off to the February Sale next week and is a lovely amateur horse for someone."
