Amateur Cambridgeshire success for Balgair

BALGAIR returned to the winners' enclosure with an emphatic success in the Amateur Jockeys' Cambridgeshire at Newmarket on Saturday afternoon.

Running in the colours of the Newmarket Racing Club, Balgair was settled at the rear of the field by Ross Birkett. He travelled stylishly throughout and cruised into contention with two furlongs to run.

When Ross pressed the button, Balgair powered clear to win easily by six lengths.

Tom said: "I am thrilled for the Newmarket Racing Club to have their first winner here. Ross has fiven him a lovely ride and he has done it well. He has been running well all season and deserved to win one."
