Adelita scores at Lingfield
ADELITA gained a first career success when taking a seven-furlong novice event at Lingfield on Saturday afternoon.
This victory was all the more special as she carried the colours of Michael and Gloria Davey - Michael sadly passed away recently - his daughter Jane was there to welcome Adelia and jockey Laura Pearson back into the winners' enclosure.
Adelita did it well - coming from off the pace to win going under Laura in the style of a promising filly.
Tom said: "It is desperately sad that Michael isn't here to today but I am thrilled for Jane and Gloria. Adelita is a lovely filly - she ran very well on debut before disappointing us next time - she wasn't 100% after that effort so we gave her a break and she has done some solid work this spring.
"A mile of turf should be right up her street and hopefully she can build on this."
Adelita, a daughter of Territories, was purhcased with Billy Jackson-Stops as a breeze up at the Tattersalls Gorsebridge Sale.
There was nearly a double for the team following Crimewave's close-up third in the feature 10-furlong handicap.
